Less Than Honest Practices...

I made an appointment for my daughter (age 16) for 3 x-rays and a checkup because I was using a new plan and did not know what percentage was going to be covered. During 2 separate phone calls, I asked about their policy and they told me that no other procedures would be done without my consent as I am the person insured and because my daughter is under age. I confirmed again that I would only consent to 3 x-rays and a check up, nothing else at this time, they agreed and told me that the total would be under $200, around $170.00. I sent my daughter to the dentist with a signed claim form, when I got home from work, my daughter informed me that along with what I had consented to, they also performed 2 fillings at a cost of just under $140.00 each...my bill was now $460.00. I contacted the office and got a rude receptionist who made snide comments and laughed when I was upset with reason. I cancelled my own appointment I had booked with them and will never go there again. They took advantage of my daughter being under age and not knowing to question the fillings and also that she did not have the consent to allow them to bill my insurance. They also took advantage that I had a pre-signed insurance form that I had sent with my daughter to her appointment. I do not agree with shady practices such as this to pad the insurance claim because they saw an opportunity. I wonder if they do this all the time, even a "small" extra claim on each claim form will add up to be big money for the dentist Dr. Jason Pang.
