Try it!

My meal was Hunter’s Stew; my husband’s was Polish Sausage. For dessert , I had lemon meringue pie; my husband had German Chocolate Cake.
The meal was served with excellent presentation! My husband liked the taste of the meal. I am a typical Maritimer when it comes to eating , so, my choice of meal was a risk for me. The food was good quality and the quantity was ample. The white tablecloths, though lovely, could intimidate blue collar workers. I suggest glass placed over the tablecloths; such as: buy at Metcalf Glass and they will deliver.
The owner I suspect was the waiter. He was polite and gracious. I suspect his few words indicated his discomfort with the English language.
If the owner wants to be more successful, then they need to learn what New Brunswickers like to eat. I suggest that the owners visit the restaurant called Mama George , located in Midland/Norton which caters to the local appetite successfully. Plates full of French fries, homey atmosphere with no pretenses, no attention to presentation and quantity over quality...like Mama’s cookin’. If the owner insists on primarily a Polish menu, then be assured that most Maritimer’s won’t give it a try. I wish the owner success.

Amazing Polish Food

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for the past 5 years and it is a real treat! The owners are Polish and definetly know how to serve a great polish dish! My favorite is the Meat Pierogies and my husbands favorite is the Pork Schnitzel! Definetly worth the short drive out of the City. Great Staff too!

Bad Service and Worse Food

Hoping for an enjoyable Polish meal in a quaint setting, I went to the Hammond River Cafe. Their signage prominently indicates Polish cuisine, so I assumed I'd be in for an authentic European treat.

The server was poorly trained and had difficulty remembering simple requests. When asked for a kielbassa platter, he seemed completely unaware what that was, indicating no one had take the time to train him on the contents of the menu. Service was generally inattentive.

The kielbassa was a cheap, greasy, store bought imitation, that barely tasted like it was supposed to, and was improperly prepared. The sauerkraut was watery and virtually tasteless.

When our dissatisfaction was mentioned to the server, he offered another dish, which I declined. I sent the plate back barely touched and was not offered any accomodation on the bill.

If you're looking for Polish food, do not waste your money here. The kitchen staff don't know how to prepare it, and what they serve indicates they don't even know what it is or how it should taste.
