Off the beaten track

If your city has a farmers market or artsy area, this is the same. To get there, you need to either take a ferry, a cab or be on a trolley tour. There are lots of art displays (for sale) and lots of eateries. Good if you like to take a stroll.

Great fun on a rainy day

The Public Market and surrounding "arty" shops were a wonderful way to spend a drizzly morning/lunch. You can take the ferry over from southwest downtown, or it's a $10 cab ride over the bridge. excellent food, try to leave without buying something

I challenge anyone who ventures to Granville Island: can you emerge without purchasing anything to take home? Chotchkeys abound in this tourist paradise, and some of the arts and crafts are truly wonderful. It's a shopper's paradise.
