Chef Jamie Kennedy's "flair" elevates "honest" "comfort food" made with local ingredients at this "casual" Corktown Canadian (including a "fantastic" Ontario wine list) in a "simple" yet "cosy" space; lunch-goers order from the counter, and there's also Sunday brunch.

After years of building a restaurant empire and then scaling back, star chef Jamie Kennedy is back behind the stove at this small, beautiful bistro. In other words, the food is sublime. Menus change daily and draw inspiration from local and seasonal ingredients. (Kennedy is a pioneering locavore.) The... more

I Want to Like Gilead
August 30, 2014

But every time I have gone it is the same thing. Dormant wait staff make ordering, waiting and eating an interminably extended ordeal. The food does not excite. Yes, JK's farm fresh produce at times has made a part of the meal interesting, but the whole meal is supposed to make the experience. I want to recommend Gilead but I... more

Very good

This is another of Jamie Kennedy's restaurants. That chef knows how to make the taste buds water. The restaurant has a bit of a primitive feel but in a very good way. Kind of plain tables and chairs, kind of like a big old fashioned kitchen. For decor they have hundreds of bottles of preserves of various kinds on the... more
