This 30-story luxury hotel is famous for pampering guests, and as you'd expect the service is top-notch. Standard rooms, with understated color schemes, marble bathroom fixtures, and tall windows with city views, are spacious and traditionally furnished, as are the even more spacious corner rooms with sitting areas. At the fabulous Yew restaurant you can order more than 300 wines by the glass.

Expect a contemporary facelift and no pretense. Get service with a smile and views to smile about. Pacific Rim accents meet the Pacific Northwest at Yew, a raw lounge and bar. There, Canali-drenched businessmen and their entourage chin-chin with flare. Glass-cased wine cellar moonlights as privatetasting room for 8. If you can get a seat, La Boqueria brunch by the hanging gardens is a must-do.

We were offered a suite at a discounted rate but would have to pay extra on top of what we had already paid. We would have appreciated a free upgrade. The receptionist sets the tone for one's visit. Every single other member of staff was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. This 4 star hotel is located in the city centre of Vancouver and was established in 1976. It is a short drive away from the Capilano suspension bridge and the nearest station is Canada Line. The Hotel has an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre/gym. All 372 rooms are equipped with minibar, hairdryer, safe, ironing set and air conditioning.
