Sugar pie!

The whole time I lived in Vancouver, I regret only coming to this place once! The food is homecooked goodness! Their Blackbean veggy burger was a great alternative to the normal mushroom, or soy burger. And for someone who's originally from montreal, it was great to taste some sugar pie in this city! Obviously doesn't compare to homemade, but was still a great treat!

Retro décor, down-to-earth attitude, and a menu of countercultural references, puns, and double-entendres give character to this paradise for plant eaters. Begin with the nachos—piled high with black beans and cheese and tasty enough to convert even the most stubborn carnivore ($8 for a small order; $12 for large). Discover the bliss of the Tropic Option—a complex curry that’s even better when... more

Like the huddles of Ghost World hipsterati populating the mismatched tables, Foundation's meatless menu digs deep into flavor country with eclectic results. Recent expansion means less waiting for huge portions of tofu breakfast scramble and against-the-grain quinoa, rice and pasta dishes. Peanut, mango, chili and lime accents keep taste buds wide awake, but it's the phenomenal nachos making... more

I like the food here, and that they are open late. Unfortunately, they don't believe in spelling (or, rather they think it's hip and cool to deliberately misspell things like 'brockly') which is why it took me 3 years to even set foot inside. The food is decent, If you can decipher the menu,  but the service is consistently below average, and the ingredients are not very high quality. They are... more

As a vegetarian, I think this place makes the best vegetarian dishes. So many interesting combinations and unique recipes. I'm a huge fan of the bananas and beans as well as the peanut broccoli dish. They also have the best nachos known to man-kind. And everything is so cheap! However, the service can be reaaalllyyy slow. And it's always super loud there.

I have this interesting relationship with Foundations. I love their food - being a vegan, there are plenty of options. Healthy, delicious, non-pretentious food. The flip side of it is the occasional too-noisy atmosphere, which can be conducive if I want to sit by myself and read a book, yet tricky if I am with others and want to socialize while I eat.And then there is the service. At times... more
