Established in 1983
In 1983, 3 friends decided to open a cultural center/ bar focused on showcasing different types of art. The place would be baptized Foufounes Electriques (Electric A@s).
When Foufs opened it's doors, the place looked more like a public artist hang out than an actual bar.
Towards the end of the 80s the show room got a total renovation, the sound equipment was renewed....

I love going to Foufs with a few friends to have a good time, especially on Saturday nights when the beer is cheap and the music is spot on for the mood of the bar. I always have a good time there, and it's also a great place to meet new and interesting people!
From the outside, this Latin Quarter club looks like something out of a Mad Max movie, with a spider the size of a Smart Car hanging over the front gate. Inside, it's a multilevel rock club that features hard-core and disco-punk bands and DJs. If you're within 2 blocks, you'll hear it. If you don't sport a tattoo or body piercing, you may want to think twice before entering.
I grew up a couple hours from the border and went to Montreal a lot in my teens, but was always somewhat disappointed with the St Catherine bar scene and the club type places that always played awful music. I found this place through a couple MTL punk sites and thought it seemed like a good place to unwind after a concert. A friend and I stopped in here after Warped Tour this past summer - we... more
I spent many nights of my youth here in the eighties. It's a great place for a punk or Metal concert. Attended a concert here recently and not much has changed. Cheap drinks, music slanted towards alternative, punk and Metal. This place is the complete opposite of the trendy bars you would find on Crescent street. Just relax, have a beer and enjoy the music, no one to impress here. Again just... more
We went here looking for some rock and roll music after getting hitched in Montreal. We were told this is the place to go for some punk rock. Unfortunately, the punk rock is only played on the upper floors (where you have to pay a cover), so we stuck to the main floor, where the music was an odd drum and base with a hint of house.
The drinks were pretty cheap, the atmosphere was pretty awesome...

One of the earlier and original punk/alternative music venues in Montreal, Foufs has been on the scene in one incarnation or another for more than 15 years. Notable appearances have included a 1990 concert by Kurt Cobain and Nirvana. A state of mind as much as a physical presence, with sculptures and remnants of the hardcore years, Foufs has re-made itself again into a live show venue. It is... more
