Locals don't get more local than this. With its rich, red walls and black-and-white tile, everything about Fleur de Sel screams "French!" -- including its boisterous owner and chef, Patrice. When I think of French food, my thoughts generally fall into one of three categories. High end, refined cuisine, delectable and precise pastries, and peasant food. While i can appreciate the skill and refinement of haute cuisine, as well as the skill of a Herme in creating perfect pastries, I really prefer peasant food. Small, about the average size of a restaurant in St. John's, but VERY good!! I went for my 19th Birthday, and when they brought me my dessert it had a candle and a sparkler with "Happy Birthday" By Marilyn Monroe playing in the background! Absolutely fabulous food, I had the Duck very very good! I'm planning on taking my best friend their for her birthday, and my boyfriend for his! VERY HIGHLY... more

An excellent restaurant. Perfect. A little bit of France in Calgary. Very pleasant bistro atmosphere and outstanding food. Certainly on a par with what you would experience in France.
