This place is for fun and good times. It's not the old school Italian which does have its place too. But, this place is a happening 17th ave spot that just happens to be serving good Italian fare. Not the 5 course Italian meals, but the quick 'n tasty good eatin stuff.
Right on 17th ave this place has a lot of hustle and bustle. It's kinda fun place to be at. Food is typical Italian, but that's not a bad thing if you're out for Italian! Prices are reasonable for food and drink, and it's big enough that you should be able to get in with a reservation no problem. Not much Italian competition of this calibre on 17th.
I don't know that there's anything special about this restaurant, to be honest. They serve typical Italian fare, the service is alright and they're accommodating, but I wouldn't rave about anything. Make sure you're not seated at the back by the restroom stairs, somehow it smells back there even though the restrooms are downstairs. Yuck!
We were in Calgary visiting our children and their significant others and happened upon this restaurant while downtown. We enjoyed our dinner-from tortollini to risotto to pizza-everyone was pleased with their selection. The service was efficient, attentive and friendly. Dessert was especially delicious-can never go wrong with a decadent chocolate cake!
Offers soups & salads, gourmet pastas, pizza with homemade tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese, chicken, salmon and veal. Start with the appetizer platter: calamari, dry ribs, mussels and bruschetta. Finish with chocolate crave torte for dessert. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday pasta specials with whole wheat and gluten free options. Entrees: $$

While many new restaurants attempt to put a contemporary spin on traditional cuisine, Fiore is happy to stick with the classics. All the Italian standards are here from thin-crust pizzas, chicken, veal and seafood dishes. The decor is smart and casual, with linen and flowers on the tables and tins of tomatoes lining the windows. Take a seat on the sunny patio, order a bottle of vino from the... more
