I know I must be the exception - but I did not enjoy the food or atmosphere here at all. I realize that many people enjoy the place, but I found the food lackluster and didn't return after my one trip.
The best poutine in Ottawa - no joke! It's a must-have but bring your appetite! I always order the ESD Poutine. $10 a plate but worth it! Open 24 hours. Friendly service. Debit not accepted, you have to bring cash, credit or use the atm on site. If you plan to visit for breakfast on the weekend, go early - it is always lined up out the door. The bathrooms are a little small. Parking is usually hard to come by.
Sunday morning breakfast.....I am really not a morning person and I know that you're supposed to eat the biggest meal at the start of the day and although the menu selections looked tempting (almost everything is over $10, by the way) I chose a toasted bagel and cream cheese and coffee. The drinks are expensive and I feel that the place is pricey but is very convenient for some grease to absorb the booze in the middle of the night. The place is usually very busy and is popular for their smoked meats as well.... more
If you think this poutine is good, you've never been to Quebec! Overpriced and not worth it.
Great diner food. Gets busy after bars close! The poutine with smoke meat is a classic.
Whether it's for family outings, power lunches or late night munchies, locals flock to this downtown diner for great eats 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The house specialty is smoked salmon, but try the local favorite Poutine for a real dining treat. This French Canadian specialty consists of fries, gravy and cheese curds, but other specialty toppings include chili, smoked meat, bacon and... more
