Easterbrooks is far from a dirty pighole. It is the only place to get a great hotdog around here. Sure, it's not the gleaming, spotless, shiny counter restaurant that some are used to, but the fact that it's been around since 1930 and is family owned should tell you something. I'm sure that anything (or anyone) that's been around for 80 years also is a little smudged around the edges. All one has to do is go in and look around at the walls and ceilings to see that all of the Whos in Whoville have been to Easterbrooks and have left their autographed picture behind as proof.
So, to the dogs... At last count, you could get upwards of 15 different kinds of dogs with everything from cheese to chili to onions to bacon and all of the above and more on them! They serve a mean fry too and they also have ice cream, just to put the cherry on the top.
You want fancy? Go to The Keg. You want tradition and a damn good hot dog served with a smile? Go to Easterbrooks.
First time visitors - my family decided to give Easterbrooks a try (as we have heard about them for a long time - they have been there for many years).
We went in and ordered at the counter and sat down. As I looked around, I saw food and dirt and grime EVERYWHERE. When I say dirty, I MEAN REALLY GROUND IN DIRTY. I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen was.
When my family was in the car to leave, I went back in to speak to the girl at the counter to address the problem. She sort of smirked and said, "we sweep once a day".
This is a dirty pighole and I will never visit again.
Go for the hot dog and the variety of toppings. Enjoy the very old atmosphere. Remember it's only a hot dog.
Last time I will go there the food was lousy the dog I had was cold and over cooked the burg my wife had had no taste and she did'nt eat it
This is an iconic old-time 12" Hotdog Stand that hasn't changed anything but the paint outside in 70 years! Still has a pull-up front / side parking lot a wooden door in and a sit-up spinning stool soda bar that was built by the original owners ... What more can I say than "Get there before it isn't there anymore!!"... more
