The Earl of Sussex has been operating at the corner of Sussex Drive and Murray Street in the ByWard Market for over thirty years. We are located directly across from the U.N Peace Memorial, The National Art Gallery and The U.S. Embassy.
This place has some really good food and a great ambiance to go with it. The live entertainment acts they have are also fun to watch. The people working there are friendly and very attentive.
With a pronounced English flavor, this pub is just diagonally across from the U.S. Embassy. Wingbacks huddle around the fireplace and by the front windows. They have darts and boards, and live jazz on the weekend. In addition to daily chalkboard specials, menu standards include steak-and-kidney pie, liver and onions, bangers and mash, and Cornish pasties. There are about 30 ales, stouts, and... more
I love their chowder. It's worth going just for that. I love this place!
Some of the best chowder I've had, and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed! The menu is varied and everything I've tried is delicious!
Agree with previous comment re. the food.Quality is not there.Staff is always friendly.Great patio for summer.Need to vary the entertainment more.Gets repetitious if you`re a regular.
Ottawa doesn't lack for British and Irish pubs. The Earl of Sussex ranks among the best, with over 30 beers on draught and a huge patio on which to wile away summer afternoons. Great pub food (fish and chips, steak-and-kidney pie) keeps taste buds and stomachs happy. Live music on weekends makes the already fun atmosphere even more so.
