I recently had Duraguard Fence install a fence for me and supply privacy slats. I was short on the privacy slats and called the company to let them know and was told if I wanted "Extra" I would have to purchase them. Duraguard was not the cheapest quote I received but believed that they had a pretty good reputation - My views on that have changed considerably. I have already purchased an additional 2 bags of privacy slats for close to $100 and am still short. When I spoke to the salesman and explained that Duraguard had not supplied enough material to complete the job, his comment was "It says on your quote only 62ft". I guess I trusted their estimator to quote me on the entire job and should have double checked and measured the footage myself. I believed that I should be refunded the cost of the additional 2 bags and that they should be providing enough material to complete the job. The salesman told me that "there is no way we can give this product away". It's not alot of money, but in the end I feel that I was "taken" and that they were a little underhanded in their quote. I'm definitely not happy with their customer service and have some concerns about the fence itself but was told over the phone that it was probably the slope of the land but when I asked them to come out and check it out the conversation didn't get very far. I have since filed a complaint with the local BBB as I don't want to have other customers learn this lesson the hard way like I did.
I had several companies come out to give me a quote to install chain link fence with privacy slats. Duraguard was by no means the cheapest however they were using a heavier guage product and chose them based on that and their reputation. I was short privacy slats and called the company to tell them they hadn't dropped off enough and was told that if I wanted "extra" I would be required to pay... more
