Good Solid Fare

This is great place to have a solid meal. The food is great and has a very home cooked flavor to it. The portions are big. The staff is pleasant and the atmosphere is quite nice. Recommended!

Unfortunately, this long time, top-notch Ottawa restaurant has closed its doors for good. A loss to the Ottawa restaurant scene.

A gem in the Byward market

I recently went to back to Domus Café (now renamed John Taylor at Domus Café) for lunch. Again, the quality of the food used in preparing the meal is exceptionnal. The use of regional products in creating the menu makes this restaurant stands out in the crowded restaurant scene in the market. I had the gnocchi's and was not dissapointed,... more

Was here several years ago and was not disappointed with this visit. Server extremely knowledgeable. Superb restaurant that uses local growers for a truly “Canadian” menu. Casual yet elegant dinning room in the heart of the ByWard Market. My guest enjoyed an outstanding cooked arctic char while I went the way of le lapin (the rabbit). Magnificent experience!

Excellent restaurant. Yes it might be pricey, but it is totally worth it. A lot of restaurants are pricey and do not deliver, but these guys do. We had a GREAT dinner, thank you!

This combination kitchen store and restaurant is well worth a visit. Located in the heart of the Byward Market, Domus brings the garden to the city as the chef boasts fresh, regional and seasonal ingredients and strives to include as much organic produce as possible. The decor is crisp and stark with lots of natural light. There is a funky store attached, which sells high quality kitchenware... more

Focusing on the absolute freshest locally acquired produce, chef John Taylor creates an ever-changing palette of beautiful and flavorful dishes that consistently wows. Fresh fish, wild game, locally raised beef and fowl – all are carefully prepared and accompanied by the brightest veggies, juiciest fruits and finest herbs. Sommelier Sylvia Taylor chooses accompanying wines quite well, so if... more
