Unscrupulous, sells your info!

Awful customer service. I think the owner is there but likes to say that she must defer to owner's decision. My friend wanted to exchange a size that was a gift from me and sales person gave her hell for trying to return it even though she'd received it as a gift and had no idea about the policies. I'm certain they sell your information when you register on 'their' mailing list as my friend, who purchased a gift for me, received numerous mailings from different companies when she only registered here for baby stuff. As a side note, the car seat technician is excellent. But I strongly discourage anyone to visit this place. I don't know why this place stays in business when they do such an awful job and treat customers so poorly.

Ignores paying customers!

I visited this store with my husband and six month old son to purchase a high chair. After looking around and waiting for someone to help us, I approached a staff member. She paged sales to come to high chairs. AND NO ONE CAME! We waited more than 15 minutes with our infant son, then decided to leave. From what we saw, there were two cashiers and one person on the floor ON A SATURDAY.

Clearly based on previous reviews, this store doesn't care about the customer. After visiting several other baby stores, you think they would know to have more staff available on a Saturday.

Even though there is selection and savings, we would rather spend our money at a store that appreciates our business. I will tell everyone I know not to shop here.

UPDATE: After submitting a complaint, I received an apologetic phone call from the operations manager at Dearborn Baby. No excuses, just an apology for a bad experience and a thank you for bringing this to their attention. I hope it improves for the next person. The phone call was greatly appreciated.

Staff is downright rude! Several bad experiences!

I have been to this store on several occasions over a period of 4 years. And I have bad experiences every time. Unfortunately this store is most conveniently located for me so I usually come here out of desparation. When I was pregnant with my first child, the salesperson tried to talk my husband and I into buying TWO separate expensive strollers (one for me and one for him), she must have been on commission or something. I did end up getting a stroller, that later on required some maintenance because it wouldn't recline. Yet another rude salesperson told me I had to pay $30 to fix the recline, and wouldn't look on her computer to confirm that it was under warranty because I didn't bring my receipt with me. I called the store back later that day when I found my receipt and the store credited me back the amount that I should have never been charged. On other occasions, when I told the staff I was just browsing around, they walk away (again, must be the commission?)
Now that I have 2 kids, and I have been to a number of other specialty baby stores, my advice to all new parents would be to avoid this store at all costs!

I'd like to start by saying this is my first ever Yelp review.

My husband and I will be first time parents in December, and know next to nothing about buying baby stuff! We went to Dear Born Baby as our first baby-shopping outing. Our first visit turned out to be all research, but the assistance we received was so stellar we went back and bought our stroller, carseat, crib, and crib mattress... more

If I could give them less than 1 start I would. I did my registry here and would highly recommend not doing it. Most of the items will be out of stock and then to top it off their service is horrible. You go in store and select items with them but when the registry is set up the first time, they never inform you if anything is missing, etc. So now you have to try and remember what is left. Then... more

We just purchased the Peg Perego Book Classico stroller in stone colour. I'm so pleased with the price as it was on sale for $339, which is $100 cheaper than Toys R Us! I would have given this rating 5 stars but the lady that helped me, her name was Carol, was quite rude. I had already read the previous reviews with the hit and miss service of the staff so I was aware prior to visiting the... more
