We stayed at Inn on the Bay for 3 nights at the beginning of September 2010 while in North Bay doing family tree research. We were given an excellent rate for a room with a king size bed and a fireplace. We didn't use the fireplace as it was 30* outside but we did use the air conditioner which made our room FREEZING. This is a good thing in my book!! There was no a/c in the halls but I think this is fairly standard. Would have been a nice extra touch. Basically, that's all that was missing from this stay - those extra touches! The soap in our room was still in its package but broken into pieces; the toilet paper roll was almost empty; we had to plug the bedside tables in to use them. No big deal really but those little extra touches would make a stay that much more special. It was a non-smoking hotel for which we were very appreciative. Centrally located. The bottom floors had doors opening out into the parking lot and drive up parking spaces. The 2nd and 3rd floor rooms had private balconies - at least in the front of the building. Fourth floor was only inside accessible. There is an elevator. The hotel was renovating while we were there, primarily their restaurant - so there was no room service or food available on the premises at all. There were lots of signs apologizing for the reno and the inconvenience which I appreciated seeing. The guy who checked us in was very personable, friendly and fair. He had no problem showing us the room before we agreed to stay. He had lots of suggestions for our research, places to eat and attractions to check out. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful. The ice machine broke down while we were there which was slightly annoying but these things can't be helped sometimes, of course. We used the free internet in our room and the coffee/tea maker. We did watch tv and there were movie channels offered but I would have found a movie rental service more convenient. Other than that, the only thing we would have loved in our room would have been a little fridge. Not sure if there are fridges in other rooms. The hotel and our room was very clean. The duvet was warm and luxurious - looked brand new! We had a lovely time at Inn On The Bay and WILL be staying there on our next visit!!
