With Granville Island Market just out her back door, Chef Alana Peckham's freezerless kitchen means a menu bursting with flavor realized in bold plates begging to be shared. Wine list cleverly hints at pairings using colors for reference. From the Cellar Door Caesar Salad to succulent meat and... more

Cru's quiet elegance serves as a soft and subtle backdrop for chef Alana Peckham's award-winning menu. I have been many times to Cru and never been disappointed in the experience. This time I was with a Montreal friend who knows about good cuisine and wine. She was delighted with her evening at Cru. Thje service is intelligent and friendly and the food delicious. This restaurant gets very high marks in my book.

Seating is too crowded . Prices too high. Servings too skimpy, Glass of wine is 5 0z. ..I expect 6 oz for those prices. No complimentary bread. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Frites were quite tasty. Short ribs were very good. Spicy lamb chop was good but accompanying mix of vegetable was ordinary.

More than 35 different wines are available by the glass and are color-coded to match items on the menu for a perfect pairing. Try the grilled Caesar salad or local scallops on a bed of lentils with apple and bacon. More than a bit... more
