I visited Congee Noodle house on Broadway under the recommendation of Vancouver eatery guide. Having have past this establishment for years, I finally decided to give it a try. I was greatly disappointed from the moment I was seated. The table settings are average, the decor was spartan and the layout was crowded. Of course this is not the place to look for a romantic dining experience so none of this bothererd me at all. I was appalled by the poor service and poor communication between the staff. The menu is extensive but I did order a common dish of beef brisket as well as rare duck noodle dish. The service was very slow and when the food arrived they had mixed up my beef brisket order with someone else. I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to return with the proper dish. The dishes themselves were nothing spectacular, average at best. I was hoping that there would be a reason for this restaurant to be so busy, but apparently I must have missed out. With poor service, average food and an overall lacking dining experience I would skip Congee Noodle House and move onto something much better. Given the distinct Broadway and Main area, a much better eatery can easily be found.

I pass by this restaurant every day and it's always busy; so yesterday we decided to give it a try. We tried the BBQ duck with noodle and Eggplant with preserved fish and shredded pork hotpot; and both were really really good. I will definitely be back to try different things.
Please be advised that this restaurant only accept cash... more
I have not been to Congee Noodle House in years, but somehow, my memory of it was a little skewed. I thought it was going to be smoky, hot and packed to the brim. It was none of those. The place has high ceilings, an A/C system that works (so fantastic in the summer), and lots of room for patrons.... more
I've been coming here for years and while the food is generally good, the service and attitude of the servers and cashiers have deteriorated over time. I recently ordered take out and when I went to pay the woman at the cashier barely acknowledged me. Granted she was on the phone with customers but there was no smile or even... more
