Great food, Great view, Great prices!

My friend an I are regulars at Classic. We have never been disappointed with the service or the food, and the prices are more than reasonable.

A very enjoyable place for breakfast

My group of six is a frequent visitor at Classic Cafe East for Sunday morning breakfast. We have visited many places around town, but we always seem to gravitate back to this restaurant. Its many windows make for a bright and comfortable atmosphere, ample parking is right outside and the food is generous and great tasting. The place is nothing fancy, but the staff and furnishings make you feel at home. You should try it.

friendly, warm atmosphere, great food

The staff are very professional and friendly even though I was a bit cantankerous. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the food was exceptional.

This come-as-you-are eatery is appropriately named: It's a classic St. John's spot, and everyone in town seems to drop by at some point. Breakfast is served until 4pm, but don't expect toast and tea; the entrees are longshoreman-hefty (sirloin with eggs, toast, home fries, and baked beans is just a single menu item). Lunch and dinner portions, mostly of diner fare and seafood, are generous and... more

A hidden gem

Delightful small neighborhood cafe with truly outstanding food. The codfish au gratin (a Newfoundland specialty) is to die for. The fish cakes are wonderful. Nothing missed the mark and the service was perfect.

Slow service - food was very greasy

We went here on recommendation from a local - they made us wait to sit down even though the restaurant wasn't full. I wouldn't recommend - we found better places to eat.

This bistro is popular with everyone from fishermen to artists. Locals flock here for stick-to-your-ribs fare, including hearty breakfasts served throughout the day. Try sirloin with eggs, home fries, toast and baked beans. They specialize in traditional Newfoundland favorites like baked cod tongues, rabbit stew and pea soup. Casual dress.
