My husband and I visited this store three days before Christmas with intention of purchasing some Christmas gifts. My children didn't touch any of the ornaments. My five year old did pick up a small pink octopus stuffed animal worth a handful of dollars. He and I immediately were shouted at across the room in another language that changed to english as he approached us. The stuffed animal was snatched out of my son's hand. We were told children can't touch the merchandise with their dirty hands. It was completely ridiculous. If you are looking for a Christmas store in Victoria, go to mayfair centre. Would give 0 stars if I could. The place is also hugely overpriced.
First of all I've lived in Victoria all my life - 57 years so when I review this place it isn't based on one visit - it's more like 20. I would never, ever go there if I had a choice. In my opinion the owner is mentally ill. He reminds me of a walking time bomb. I've seen him rudely shove ahead of other customers making them halt in their tracks, interrupt customers when they are talking, berating customers for touching things and the list goes on. He tried to sell me a string of purple mini lights for $l7 once telling me how well made they were and the best money could buy. I didn't realize at the time that Michael's sold them for $7! He flies around the store at times like a bat out of hell on some mission or other making me cringe because I'm always thinking I did something wrong. Why do I go there? Desperation. The only other places I can get what I need is in the States - most of the time they won't ship to Canada and if they do the shipping and duty more than equals the cost of the goods. And to top it off half the time the downstairs section seems to be closed especially in the off season. Victoria has many wonderful stores with lovely helpful staff - this isn't one of them.
Against my better judgment I took my 2 year old in there because he was so excited by all the Christmas toys in the window.
I told him about a million times before we went in not to touch anything (everyone in Victoria knows this store's reputation).
We went in, and were promptly kicked out. My son was holding my hand, wasn't touching anything and was being very well behaved.
He sobbed as we were kicked out because he just wanted to see Santa. I can't believe anyone wastes their money in this store.
My handicapped client who is on disability went into the store to buy me a Christmas gift this year and he had some extra money on him so he could buy himself something nice too....He bought 2 wooden dolls and spent $300.. I expected a $20 gift not $300 SoI went into the store to get him a refund just 10 minutes later and the owner refused to give him his money back.....Merry E-FEN Christmas. I hope to God this store is out of business soon. Promise me you will NEVER shop at this store...
This is a terrible store. The guy who owns it is horrible. Who's ever heard of a Christmas store that has banned children?
Avoid this place unless you feel like getting watched and then yelled at
