Our small puppy has spent at least a dozen nights at Chasin' Tails, and was always excited to return there...until recently. It's one of those "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and seconds to lose one" scenarios. Usually, when we pick her up, she's all smiles and doesn't want to leave because of all the fun she's had; but this time, she bolted straight to the exit door - she couldn't get out fast enough. After picking her up at the door, she was put in her traditional car spot, and as we were driving home I looked back and all I saw was a bloody left eye and a shut right eye. We acknowledge that dogs do play rough at times, but beware of a place that advertises 24/7 supervision and returns a beat up dog, possibly requiring eye surgery, and of course, no acknowledgement from the staff about the incident - just a greeting at the front desk for an overpriced charge and a cookie-cutter comment of how she loves playing with other dogs. Don't be fooled - this is not a fully supervised daycare facility as they advertise - it can't be with a dog to person ratio of approx. 20 to 1. If it was supervised, any professional establishment would have recognized the event, or at least the results of it. If this was your child, and we all know that we treat dogs like one, you would expect a phone call, or at least a comment at the front desk of what had happened. Without this, that reputation is immediately questioned and forever tarnished. Chasin' Tails, let's hear your cookie cutter rebuttal to this, just as you have with past negative reviews - I'm not going to believe it, nor should anyone else. You're just trying to cover your business, and I don't blame you, but pet owners, we can make a stance here. Really, think about their setup - for one minute - and think - is this right?
the staff here are so caring and seem to all be knowledgeable, so we felt very confident leaving Browny here for a day or two.
We needed a long term stay (about a month and a half). We did tours and interviews of several places. Ultimately went with Chasin Tails b/c there were no kennels. Plus, if you've had a corgi, you know they're smart so we liked their enrichment areas/activities, Staff impressed us (they had worked in vet clinics, SPCA, etc), Would prefer if they took raw food, though. We called pretty frequently, but were given solid updates. Picked up the dogs after their grooms on the final day, and we had a pair of healthy, happy and tired Corgis. Turns out our vet even brings her dog here! We'd recommend this place over other places. Cheers.
We also recently made the switch from a kennel that didn't seem to be as advertised. We have now been to Chasin Tails roughly 10 times, and now my dog knows your business by name. Now there is 3 words I can't say in the house unless I really want an excited pup. Milo loves the staff and always makes friends! Best part is after a long day of work and a long day of play for him, we can both relax... more
My husband and I have been in Calgary more than 20 years, and owned dogs for longer. We went to Chasin' Tails because our latest addition hated the last kennel, where we suspect that the dogs are being caged longer than advertised. We opted for the cageless route, and haven't looked back. One can never really be sure that one's dog is actually out playing when there are kennels. Additionally,... more
I've been to several facilities, but this is the one I trust the most. My dogs - one BIG Shepherd mix and one teeny-weeny Chihuahua mix - are rescues, but spoiled, and we don't believe in caging, which is why we left other places for the kennel-free thing here. Also, I'm from Toronto, and we expect trained and certified staff, which were virtually non-existent at other places, which is... more
