I had a contract with CGA Iron Works and the owner Chris Kowal to install a wrought iron fence for the sum of $1,120. In good faith I gave him $560 representing a deposit to purchase the materials to complete the job. He assured me that the job would be done by the end of August, 2009. When I hadn’t heard from him towards the end of August, I called him and he explained that he hadn’t received a report from one of the utilities regarding digging the posts, but assured me that was forthcoming in the next couple of days. When I didn’t hear from him again, I called both his office and his cell phone, but was not able to speak with him. I left several messages but still no return call. I was thinking the worst, i.e., I’ve lost $560! Eventually he did call me and gave me some lame excuse but he did return my money. It was a very stressful experience.
Chris came out to our place and measured up the job one day after I called him. He had the job completed 2 weeks later and worked into the dark on one night to complete everything. He returned to inspect his work a couple of weeks after and to make sure we were happy with everything. Thanks Rich.
