Central Bistro offers freshly made "comfort food' and we advertise the fact that it's 'where the locals eat'. And they do — because the food is reasonably priced and the quality is reliable. In fact, our menu is made with fresh ingredients, from scratch, every day. We have a casual atmosphere and we make sure you'll get good service so that you can enjoy your time in our... more

Chef Harry’s version of a European café makes brunch an Old World affair. Candlelit interior and antique fixtures create an afternoon refuge for English Bay strollers and discount movie aficionados. $5 glasses of wine on Wednesdays get you through the hump. Tease your palate with the olive pate and the Gorgonzola lamb burger. Pay extra and get the side Hollandaise with $3.99 breakfast special.... more

Though the food hits and misses, the lack of pretension and the fun, queer-friendly atmosphere keep Central full, especially in the summer months when the shady patio affords shelter from a garish interior design. We recommend the lamborghini, a lamb burger with gorgonzola and caramelized onions ($17). Skip the wine list—cocktails (best had at the chatty bar) are worthy of a thousand lips.

Good Food & Jazz Band

It was a small restaurant but had good food and service. The jazz band was very good too. She sang in Spanish and English and was very demonstrative.

Cozy room in heritage building glows thanks to candles, antique chandeliers and an oversized fireplace. Menu items include steak and frites and fresh mussels. $$. B/L/D (daily).

We may be famous for our brunches but we also have a fantastic lunch and supper menu. Our food is comfort casual with a European influence, just like your grandmother used to make, that is if your grandmother was an amazing cook and from Europe!
