It’s a dichotomy.” Chef Craig Harding sums up Campagnolo, the restaurant that he and his fiancée, Alexandra Hutchison, own and operate on Dundas Street in Toronto’s west end. Inspired by traditional homemade Italian food, and charged with a fresh and modern energy, Campagnolo blends new and old to create something that is better than either.

"Authentic preparations" of "inspired", "homestyle Italian" plates and an "informed" staff "all about service" draw diners to this pricey Dundas West haunt where fans swear "everything is delicious"; if the "casual" shabby-chic interior doesn't quite reach the same heights, most don't notice, quipping "you couldn't ask for more (except maybe a foot rub)."
Seekers of gooey lasagna or oily pepperoni pizza, beware. Campagnolo does Italian cuisine the way its found in the most bucolic pockets of the old country: housemade burrata and grilled squid with arugula pesto are just two of the stalwarts on chef Craig Harding's ever changing menu that takes the farm-to-tale ethos quite seriously. Campagnolo on Dundas West specializes in what it describes as good, honest home cooked food. The casual restaurant is currently serving dinner only. At the helm is Chef Greg Harding (formerly of Four in the Financial District) and his team has done an amazing job transforming the space from what used to be a decrepit Coffee Time.
Campagnolo restaurant on Dundas St., West was such a pleasure and a refreshing change from the Torontol scene. It's definitely a destination place and not so much a neighborhood haunt. They make fresh bread pipping hot and crusty and fresh cultured butter that is served piping hot fresh from the oven. I had the hamachi Crudo (yellowfin tuna flank) and the red snapper which was crispy on the... more
Start to finish, my experience at Campagnolo was both consistent and enjoyable. They seem to focus on putting forth a smaller but carefully selected menu. Kind of reminds me of Woodlot to be honest, but IMO Campagnolo executes better. The apps were tasty - house made Baguette & Gougères and Bone Marrow. The main courses of braised rabbit pappardelle and Lamb shank followed up nicely. And the... more
Had high hopes for this spot but was quite disappointed. Servers seemed nervous or out of it, food was mediocre at best, and the music choice was very odd.
Campagnolo is a small establishment housed in a spot that used to be a Coffee Time in the middle of Little Italy. They serve up tasty, high-end Italian food. Campagnolo’s cozy setting and home-cooked Italian meals give this establishment a very family-friendly atmosphere.
The menu at Campagnolo provides a listing of dishes that sound deceptively simple. For example, burrata - mozzarella cheese filled with cream - is listed as being served with roasted grapes and toasted bread. In reality, the dish offers the perfect balance of flavours and textures: the crunchy bread topped with the rich, creamy cheese, the sweet grapes cutting through that richness, and a... more
