not concerned with pet's well-being

I don't know what the motivation is for their decisions at this clinic, but I was highly disappointed to find out how quickly they'll prescribe medication for something that I'm sure could have been fixed with a modification to diet. They gave me a REALLY hard time about my cat having weight issues, but I told them that my previous vet said yes, she's on the heavy side, but it's something we would keep an eye on and try to feed her less. Here the doctor tried to prescribe medication to fix it and I said no, and left.

my cat

I adopted a cat that was found to have a severe crystals and was in a lot of pain. I had to take her in to Dr Shelby and the staff at Mcknight 24 hour clinic. I didn't want to leave her but I knew that was the best thing because they had to give her medications and watch her. They were so caring and kind to me that you could tell they were all true animal lovers. It took some time but now I have her back home and she is back to old self - purring and sitting on my lap. thank you so much to all of you at Mcknight 24 hr for all of your hard work, even though she just came into my home she is the best cat ever.

Incompetent doctors

This is about my female Syrian Hamster that I took to the Calgary North Veterinary Clinic. I was not pleased with the vet’s decision on the medication (later I found out that it is highly toxic to small animals) that was prescribed, it ended up being fatal. She died within the week of taking this medicine. Before I gave her this medicine I asked the vet is it safe to give a little hamster and they said “yes it is, and I prescribe it all the time”. Also I was not given any information sheet about this drug or to watch out for specific side effects. Also they sold me expired food product, when I called them to confirm that it was expired, their response was “we’ll give you your money back”. I took her to another vet for help, but it was too late. I will miss my hamster dearly. Calgary North is about money first, then your pet secondly. I would not recommend this clinic.
