This bakery shares the same room/space as Hot Chocolate. I was confused the first few times I have been here until it clicked in. They have amazing cakes, breads and syrups. This place is always busy. The customer service could be better, however, I understand that there were busy.

I'm attracted to bakeries like a moth to light so, being in Courtenay for an afternoon, I stopped by Cakebread. They have a rather small display of cookies/cakes to the left and a long display of chocolates running down the length of the store to the right. I bought some items to bring to somebody's house later that evening:

lemon love cookies
cranberry spelt cookies
pecan bars

I love bread in all forms. So long as you are crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside (somewhat like a baked armadillo - for ex-pat British reviewers, this may make some semblance of sense) - I am all yours. Apparently, Cakebread do a mean garlic loaf - with a whole bulb baked into the center. What is there not to love about that?
