Treated poorly

I will never set foot in Bow Liquor again.

I've been a patron for a few years since my arrival in Bowness. I've generally found the selection to be surprisingly varied and Joe and his staff to be accommodating and friendly though not all that knowledgeable about their products.

However, a recent incident has turned me off the store completely. I stopped by on my way home from Safeway (walking) to pick up a rose for dinner with pork at my aunt's request. I realized that I didn't know all that much about rose and while I was there did a little research on my Blackberry. I can honestly say that I took no more than 5 minutes.

An older gentleman, a long time fixture at the store asked me what I was doing in a very unpleasant tone and accused me of spending half an hour in the store. I was flabbergasted and explained exactly what I was doing and stated that I had only spent a few minutes in the store. I was challenged on this - and basically called a liar. Since I was on foot and didn't have time to go elsewhere and didn't want to arrive home empty handed, I reluctantly picked up and purchased a rose (without any help).

I called the store on my return, spoke to the cashier, and left a message for Joe to phone me back regarding customer service. I left it at that. I never heard back. I don't know if the message was intercepted or not. (I did not speak to the rude guy.)

If there was any concern about my apparent loitering (in a store the size of my bedroom, better lit and well staffed) a simple, "Is there something we can help you with?" would have dealt with that in a cordial and inoffensive manner.

You can rest assured that will never patronize that store again. I have already shared my experience with several friends and family.
