I made a reservation at the Black Trumpet at the end of January, it was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere he had never been before but I had tried and enjoyed.
We arrived at 6:55 and were seated in the front room with 2 other tables. Ice water and menus were provided. We were not asked for a drink order, we were not asked if we had any questions, we were not ever acknowledged by the waitress after we were seated. This waitress was in and out of the room on at least 5 separate occasions and we could not so much as catch her eye.
At 7:25, 25 minutes after being seated I told my husband we were leaving. On our way out I explained to a waiter who was in the service room that we had been sitting for 25 minutes and had not even had a drink order taken, and that we were leaving.

I have to say I was a little disappointed with the Black Trumpet. Overall, the food was good but it really didn't blow me away. I honestly think my choice of a vegetarian main dish played a big factor here.
Going inside for the first time was pleasant. It had a nice atmosphere and we were seated next to the fireplace (which was a cozy addition). The decor of the restaurant was nice but subtle....

I'd say the Trumpet is one of if not the go-to fancy dining place in London. Good ambience, quiet, and a good assortment of quality appetizers, mains and desserts.
They are a fusion place, so have dishes that are inspired from a wide range of styles. One of my favourite appys is their spring roll. Last time I was there, I got the tenderloin, then I (too late) recalled my personal policy not to...
