Used to go here a lot and haven't been for a while. Went back to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday and we were very pleasantly surprised. This is a good dairy restaurant that makes basics. None of their food will ever be called cuisine, but the quality is good and the service is dependable. Some of our dinner guests keep kosher, so the place was just fine, but this paled in comparison to the other meals we had during our stay in Toronto.
This is a kosher vegetarian/fish restaurant near the subways. On a recent visit I went their for dinner with two friends and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Everything they and I had was excellent but the clear highlight of the meal was French onion soup. I would journey up there for that dish!
Until now, if observant Jews wished to dine out, their only choices were cafeteria-style restaurants and delis. Now the Jewish community can rejoice with the opening of Bistro Grande, an elegant alternative to the fast food on Bathurst Street.
