The fare at Bishop's is regional and seasonal. In restaurateur John Bishop's view, it makes sense to showcase British Columbia's lush bounty of seafood, organic produce and meats. His exquisite West Side restaurant blends classic and modern flavours with a casual elegance that keeps clients coming back for a truly exceptional dining experience.

Still the Ultimate

Nothing faddy, this place is classic West Coast. John Bishop is an excellent chef and Bishop's has stood the test of time and yet it's never "old." Expensive, but great for a special occasion.

This venerable Pacific Northwester in Kitsilano is hailed as "the granddaddy of locavore dining" on account of "the freshest" of "pristine ingredients" used in its "inspired" culinary creations; diners also applaud service with a "personal touch" from "consummate host" John Bishop and his "affable but not intrusive" staff, and it all unfolds in a simple, "intimate" dining room lined with... more

A longtime proponent of seasonal, local cuisine, chef John Bishop opened his namesake restaurant in 1985, and it's been a Vancouver institution ever since. The walls of this bright 40-seat restaurant are adorned with contemporary and First Nations artwork; the tables are draped with crisp white linens. Executive chef Ron Shaw's haute-barnyard menu is almost 100 percent organic; the kitchen even... more

Beloved by gourmets and grannies alike for over two decades, Chef Andrea Carlson’s ever-changing menu features house-made cheeses, the freshest seasonal produce, and traditional favorites bursting with glorious flavor, like pork topped with tangy rhubarb compote. Dessert lovers and wine connoisseurs can expect equal ravishment. Standout service, and you won’t find a more gracious host in the... more

Wonderful experience

The owner John Bishop came to each table and greeted everyone. The staff members were pleasant and provided fantastic service. The ingredients tasted fresh and worked well together. Each course was not overwhelmed in sauces/seasonings/oil. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends.

This place is not hip. It is NOT happening. You'll be hard pressed to find any patron born before 1970 who is not there with a parent. But the food and service here are fantastic. Many restaurants use butter and salt to fool you into thinking that you're getting something awesome. The chefs at Bishop's let the food speak for... more

I chose Bishop's because of its high rating with Tripadvisor. It was a great choice.
I had informed the restaurant when making the reservation that it was our anniversary and also that my wife had a shellfish allergy. We were seated at a romantic corner table and the Maitre D' informed us that the chef was aware of my wife's... more

A friendly, professional staff presents a menu that changes weekly and features the freshest ingredients which can include Cowichan Bay Farms duck, BC spot prawns or Fraser Valley lamb.
