James Peake Jr. was living in a residence near his business at Charlottetown harbour when he decided that it didn’t befit his circumstances. Beaconsfield reminds visitors of the Victorian charm of the mid-nineteenth century. Twenty-five rooms and eight fireplaces make the Beaconsfield home a true treasure. Tours are offered year round and an on site bookstore sells an assortment of material on the history and the architecture of the island.
