I've been going here for the past 15 years. The best time to go is late in the evening for that sweet near-midnight snack! I take my out-of-town guests here all the time.
I visited Baked Expectations craving some deserts to calm my sweet tooth. I would have had a much better experience purchasing desert at a corner store. The food here is barely edible and stale. The presentation is poorly done and there is nothing spectacular on their menu. The service is very slow and the restaurant is understaffed. If there is a great desert restaurant in Winnipeg, this is not it.
I'm in Winnipeg for a couple of days to visit my mom and decided to take her to Baked Expectations, a Winnipeg institution from back in the day when I lived here, for dessert. The food was ok, she had an apple cheesecake which she seemed to enjoy while and my pavlova had a rather gummy meringue, it was quite tasty. The drink selection was poor. Loved the caramel pecan cheesecake, love the carrot cake, the oreo cheesecake is kinda dry in a disappointing way.
Reducing stars once again- went here for a slice of cake and a coffee and had less than exceptional service.

Nothing looked appealing at all since I had gone in expecting baked goods galour not a bunch of cheesecake. Reading the other comments, I must say I didn't even realize that they served regular food cause its definately... more
Baked Expectations is a wicked 50's diner inspired dessert restaurant in the Exchange. The food isn't particularly outstanding but the desserts are heavenly, particularly the cheesecakes and the Tia Maria torte, which layers cream and chocolate chip cookies. Delish!
Baked Expectations offers these services: bakery, restaurant, caterer, wedding planning supplies, wedding planner, weddings.
Stop here for an afternoon pick-me-up or a post-dinner sweet. Light appetites will want to try crispy homemade pecan squares. Serious dessert connoisseurs should try the cheesecake, a slice of towering torte or the rich trifle.
If you experience feelings of guilt after sampling wonderfully rich and sweet food this is not the best space for your conscience. Crazy Chocolate, cappuccino cheesecake and cherry trifle are only a few of the delectable sweets offered at this incredible dessert place, which incidentally also serves pasta and sandwiches. This spot, with its black and white tiled floors and reminiscent old soda... more
