Do NOT take your bunny to see Dr Phillips. I took my bunny to Avenida 5 years ago when he was having trouble peeing (had crystals/chronic bladder sludge) and she advised me that I needed to stop feeding him ANY pellets (despite her being told his stomach couldn't tolerate ANY vegetables since he was 5 weeks old). His SOLE diet was Timothy pellets and Timothy Hay. She told me he would die a painful death from bladder sludge and that I had to stop feeding him anything but timothy hay, or grow my own grass for him and feed him nothing else for the rest of his life! Or I may as well euthanize him as he would have a painful death. So, instead of literally starving my bunny or putting my baby to sleep, I went to an experienced rabbit vet who was completely shocked at that advice and put my bunny on the REGULARLY prescribed treatment for bladder sludge which is at home sub q lactated ringers. He lived a happy playful life with this easy home care for another 4 years! What a despicable lack of basic knowledge for someone who is supposed to treat rabbits. Don't be fooled by her articles in our local papers giving advice on rabbits or led to believe she is rabbit savvy since she recently got bunnies of her own. I know worlds more about rabbits and any veterinarian who could give me the advice she gave and writes that rabbits are low maintenance/easy to care for and great pets for children (both of which she has claimed) has NO idea about rabbits or their care.
