The AGGV is wonderful. The special exhibits we saw were Emily Carr and Kimonos. Both well presented. The permanent collection is interesting as well. They used part of their collection another exhibition, Through the Looking Glass, which was very nice. Not a large museum and the parking lot is small.
We visited this gallery to look at Emily Carr's work but were more entranced by the other displays including the Asian/Chinese exhibit that was there (May 2014) and the amazing dolls house near the exit. And like all the other Canadian museums and galleries that we visited on our trip, the Gift shop was excellent.
The AGGV is a keeper of treasures with more than 15,000 works in the permanent collection, including works by Emily Carr, a king-sized dollhouse, an authentic Shinto shrine that complements one of the finest collections of Japanese art in Canada, and an impressive range of contemporary art.
