I love this place, plain and simple. If you come on the right day (I think that's usually Thursday and Friday) there is a great variety of fresh seafood, a n array of oysters and clams in the shell to choose from, and a display freezer for those seeking more exotic products. They almost always have live crabs and usually lobsters in tanks. There is also a boutique of sauces and other ingredients useful in cooking up your purchase and even a very comprehensive book of seafood recipes. You even get a free lemon with each purchase. The downside is that, inevitably, Anchor cannot offer the low prices you'd get in big grocery stores. Often, I have guiltily slunk over to one of those for a purchase knowing that instead of buying local I'm fattening Jimmy Pattison's billions! But I try to buy here often because not having Anchors would be a big loss to this city's retail sector. The only other downside to Anchors - again inevitable at a small inland fish store - is that some days the fresh fish varieties are pretty limited. However, there's almost always a range of the shrimp family and delicious seaweed salad.
Anchors Fish Market offers these services: fishmonger, seafoods, fish, fish and seafood, fish and seafood store.
