shop good - jesse not

They only get the 1 star because the counter staff were super nice and Bill (the tattoo artist was super nice too).

I was on a really tight schedule and was trying to get a same day appointment. I called around almost all the shops in the Lower Mainland and had a few that said that they might be able to do it but weren't sure - so as I didn't want to drive out and not be able to get it down I kept calling.

I spoke with someone at Adrenaline and they told me that they had three artists with absolutely nothing on their schedule so one of them would definitely be able to do it that day.

I drove for over an hour to get there and gave my images to the girl at the counter. She came back with Jesse. He was a total douchenozzle. He gave me a giant lecture about my image being out of proportion and that he wouldn't put his name on it. He didn't spend 7 years becoming an artist to do stuff like that. I asked what was out of proportion (it was a head so I wanted to know if the eyes, ears, what were out of proportion). He wouldn't specify and just repeated that it was out of proportion. Didn't give any kind of suggestions on how to change it or offers to redraw it to fix it up a bit - just was a total dick.

After he walked away - the woman next to me said she couldn't believe how rude he was and asked if I was alright. Other staff in the shop tried to apologize and said they didn't know why he was so rude. Bill was another artist in the shop who was totally nice and professional but was fully booked (hmm I wonder why Bill was booked but Jesse wasn't...I think i know the answer now).

I've had over 20 tattoos done at many different shops and find them all to have their pros and cons. Yes, this place is a bit like a Hot Topic - but there's nothing wrong with that (at least I don't think so which is why I was there in the first place). Actually this can make it less intimidating to people getting their first tattoo. However, being a totally rude, unprofessional douche is not cool. I've got six more tattoos planned for this year alone and I may even go back and book with Bill - but if any of you are thinking of going there - STAY AWAY FROM JESSE.

It totally wasted my whole day and now prevented me from being away to go to any of the other shops that I'd been talking to that day ad there was no time left.

Jesse - if you want to be a custom artist and only do you own designs, open up your own shop or work at a custom tattoo shop - don't go work a the hot topic / tourist / mall shop known for taking walk-ins. Even then you need to work on your customer service skills. Yeah yeah I know you're a rebellious, bad a@s, artist and you can't be tamed - but dude you're still in customer service - deal with it. Being almost covered in tattoos and playing roller derby I get asked about my tattoos ALL the time (at least a couple of times a week). I'll be sure to tell every single person what a wicked great experience it is to have your time wasted by a condescending prick who'll belittle you and the design you have chosen.
