Portuguese cuisine is closely related to it's rich and complex history that is dominated by sea exploration. The wide variety of seafood matched with the spices and exotic fruit brought over from the East provide the basis for the very old recipes found in Portuguese cuisine. At Adega (meaning wine cellar), we have taken some of these old recipes and ... more

Good service and relaxing atmosphere

Adega Restaurant has a decent menu, but it's not spectacular. The great part of this restaurant is the low-light atmosphere and the friendly servers. They are patient, attentive and quick to bring you your dish.

The "mix" of seafood offerings and other "delicious" Portuguese dishes is "just right" at this "top-notch" Downtown "hideaway" just off the Yonge Street strip where "terrific", "attentive" servers (who are "good-looking too") make diners "feel like family"; add in a "low-key" space with a "relaxed" vibe and it's an overall "pleasant" experience.

I attempted to go here three times and on the third try I finally got to eat here. I really enjoyed the food and my experience here. I had the Cataplana as well as the grilled sardines as an appetizer. The sardines were good, but nothing spectacular. There were a lot of little bones, which was fine with me, that got stuck in my friend's throat. The Cataplana was really good. I enjoy Boullabaise... more

Probably the best Portugese food I've had in Toronto. Got the seafood saffron risotto and it reminded me of Portugal so much. Seafood is fresh & tasty and staff are warm and welcoming.

We went to Adega restaurant in downtown Toronto yesterday. A group of 11 biddding farewell to a departing colleague. Service was poor. Our waitress was not very helpful in explaining the dishes and she spent most of the time suggesting special dishes that were not in the menu without mentioning their price!^She had a superior attitude and gave us the impression that we were a burden to her day... more

A fairly new addition to the Toronto restaurant scene, Adega has jumped on the stogie trend by housing a cigar room in their extensive wine cellar. To complement your gentlemanly habit, Adega also provides a wide selection of port wines. Where’s the butler, you ask? Out netting the catch of the day: Adega specializes in Portuguese cuisine, which means fish and seafood galore. Adega hosts... more
