Here at Weblocal.ca, we are really proud to reduce our environmental impact by offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions we create! Planting trees is an effective mean to fight climate change because they have the ability to sequester CO2 through photosynthesis. To do so, ZEROCO2 helped us to calculate our carbon footprint (means of transportation, etc.) and we truly had a lot of fun taking part in this project!
Plant trees. Buy certified credits of international standing. Fight climate change.
The hybrid carbon offset model offered by ZEROCO2, which includes tree planting and the purchase of high quality carbon credits, is the most complete offer in Canada and allows participants to act on all fronts in the fight against climate change.
Large-scale tree planting creates vast carbon sinks that help counteract the greenhouse effect. By planting trees, you also participate in creating vast public green spaces that promote urban beautification for entire communities to enjoy. Plus, there are many other benefits associated with tree planting including the preservation of biodiversity and the rehabilitation of natural environments.
ZEROCO2’s Web platform features a practical online calculator so participants can quickly and easily measure their carbon footprint. In just a few clicks, participants can calculate the amount of CO2 emitted during the course of their everyday activities.
The ZEROCO2 Web platform offers the possibility for program participants to pinpoint the exact location of their trees using a patented geo-positioning system. The ability to clearly see the extent of one’s actions by locating the very spot where trees are planted is an underlying component of the ZEROCO2 program. To date, more than 70,000 trees have been planted through the program—an area equivalent to 150 football fields.
ZEROCO2 is now one of the largest holders of carbon credits in Canada. All ZEROCO2 projects with a carbon credit component offer credits from two of the leading certifying bodies in the carbon credit market, namely, Gold Standard and VCS. These prestigious certification programs ensure that emission reduction projects satisfy leading market standards.
